Well, I
know there's no way to compete with the last installment of On The Road.
I've had people ask me on the road since that story was posted if it was
true. All I can say is I have never wanted a bigger driver window
in all my life! It was truly one of the funniest things that ever
happened to us on the road. What made it even funnier was seeing
Matt trying to wash that chemical off his hands. I guess I'll
stick to where we are and some exciting things that are happening.
We
sang in Phenix City, Alabama on Friday. We really had a good time seeing
some folks that we haven't seen in a while. It's hard to remember
sometimes how long it has been when we've been in certain areas, and how
long it has been since we have seen people of that area. We sang
to a full church and had a great time. A good friend of ours,
Chuck Smith, saw us parked (at Wal-mart, of course) and stopped by to
talk to us for a while. He made the comment that he was just at a
singing with several groups. He made mention that most of the
groups there stayed on the bus, sending their drivers or someone else to
"work the table." I know it's hard to be on the bus and travel the
late hours that most groups have to go to get from point A to point B.
We have always tried to spend as much time with the people as possible.
We love to keep people apprised of what's happening not only from a
ministry standpoint, but on a person to person aspect as well.
Things like that come in handy when preachers call on you to pray for
people of the congregation like he did on Saturday in Center, AL.
He called Daddy and I to the front asking us to listen to personal
prayer requests. Having done this, it makes me realize - there is
a lot of hurt going on in this world right now. We should be open
to Gospel music and church services more than ever. If nothing
else just to lift our spirits. While we were in Sweetwater, TN
Sunday, our spirits were definitely lifted by the message that Preacher
Watson brought. It was so encouraging to have an old time preacher
preach about the importance of a song! Speaking of which, we
started a new thing this week on the road... we are taking video
testimonies from folks and we would love to take yours. While at
your next Singing Echoe's event...mention to Matt or I that you would
like to share your testimony and we will post it to our website.
Just another way to keep you closer to the ministry of the Singing
Echoes!
On that note... Some already
know, some do not. Matthew and Adrienne are expecting. Their
baby is due right around the dates for the anniversary singing, mid to
late July. It's sure to be an interesting and exciting time in
July as she wrestles to the end of her pregnancy with all the action
going on in that month. Fast forward about two months....and guess
what? Another addition! Amy and I are expecting too! A
good friend of mine Scott Hooper asked me "What is she was expecting?"
I said....uh....well, Amy will be reading this so I'll pick my words
wisely- I said she will be expecting me to help with our little bundle
of joy! I can't say that I look forward to diapers or messes or
anything like that. But I am excited about this new phase of our
life. We had our first ultrasound last Thursday, and I was totally
amazed! It's for real now, we have a picture. Please
continue to pray for Adrienne and Amy. I think they are excited
(and worried) about going through this together. Pray that Matt
and I will be close enough to see our children born. Amy has
already made it clear that she would not have my baby if I were in
another state - and as I've already learned...don't cross the pregnant
lady! All kidding aside, please keep all of us in your
prayers...We are looking for two healthy babies, and comfortable
pregnancies - for the women and the men! (I know I'll be in
trouble for that one!)
